Shadowdark RPG Quickstart Set (PDF)

As I finished my first session with my two players, they each were using two pre-gens from the Citadel of the Scarlet Minotaur, one player said to me "This feels like a rogue-lite." And from a gamer such as him, I knew that was a compliment. Without the constraints of specific skills and rules for every kind of combat maneuver, my players feel a much greater sense of freedom of action and improv then they ever have before with other 5E games.
I also have a sense of freedom and feel I can finally give my players a good challenge they have to figure a way out of using their heads and not their stats.
The game is malleable enough to add my own additions to the rules and not feel unbalanced and brisk in it's combat so as to not grind the game to a halt. And the illustrations! Forget about it! Perfection. Can't wait to pick up the Core Book.

Perfect adventure if you’re looking for something easy to start.
Information in the books is presented in a clear and easy to comprehend way. And still there’s everything you need as a DM or TTRPG wanting a sneak peak.
Double-sided pregen character cards design and art are both amazing, players wont loose themselves in pages of information on the table.
Art feels authentic to old school and just fantastic.

Jokes aside I'm grateful for how on top of this Michael was when it came to ensuring I would receive my package. I may have helped him along by filing a report with USPS but he definitely kept me in the loop on any developments.

Now I just have to hunker down, get comfy and do a lot of reading. Keep the books coming, I think I'll definitely be purchasing more down the road. I wish you all the best in the long run.

As a quickstart for Shadowdark, this is excellent and provides everything needed to play. It is also generous, considering you don't need to purchase the rules to use it. I think this is a good move.

I have not yet played the game enough to have a firm view on the Shadowdark rules. Obviously, I am curious about the game since I down loaded the quickstart. But roleplaying games should be played to have an informed opinion.
