The Start of Adventure ![User picture]()
For the last two years I've heard nothing but praise for this game and I've finally sunk my teeth in. Reading through the tome has brought me nothing but excitement. I look forward to trying it out with my wife before I bring it to the group as a whole. I backed the new kickstarter but couldn't wait until December to get a physical book. Though I can't wait for the new fancy one this one and accompanying it the solidarity rules will do for now. It made my week getting it today. Torch is lit and Im ready to go

A miracle of clarity and cross-edition appeal
Shadowdark combines the best of "old-school" D&D and innovations since then: a unified d20 mechanic, advantage/disadvantage, randomized level progression, and so on. The text layout prizes clarity and utility; the black and white illustrations evoke the best D&D art of the past 50+ years. Above all, the simple (and notorious?) necessity of light in a dungeon puts fear back in dungeon delving. All in all, this is a well-written rule set and a well-made book, deserving of all its accolades and then some.

I played d&d when I was was younger in the 90s. I came back to playing it 2 years ago, unfortunately I found it wasn't the game i remember. I watched a shadowdark game on YouTube and it instantly found the feeling of this is the experience and fun i had playing with friends. Now i play with new people and they love it.
