Great Addition to the Collection

Shadowdark is an easily accessible game and this Quickstart makes it even easier. This product is littered with fantastic and nostalgic art. It's easy to read and understand. Ultimately, it is a great introduction to this game.

The Freedom of Imagination (Hardcore Mode)

As I finished my first session with my two players, they each were using two pre-gens from the Citadel of the Scarlet Minotaur, one player said to me "This feels like a rogue-lite." And from a gamer such as him, I knew that was a compliment. Without the constraints of specific skills and rules for every kind of combat maneuver, my players feel a much greater sense of freedom of action and improv then they ever have before with other 5E games.
I also have a sense of freedom and feel I can finally give my players a good challenge they have to figure a way out of using their heads and not their stats.
The game is malleable enough to add my own additions to the rules and not feel unbalanced and brisk in it's combat so as to not grind the game to a halt. And the illustrations! Forget about it! Perfection. Can't wait to pick up the Core Book.
